My essay, A Long Walk To Water.
In the novel, A long walk to water by Linda sue park a strong willing man Jewiir uncle of 11yr old Salva, Jewiir was a leader to a group of lost people.
Jewiir was a man who was looked up to as a leader by many. He could've killed them for all i know but instead he put them before hisself and decided to help. Jewiir also treated them as if they were his own. The people amoungest him felt protected. Many people appreciated the time he put in to help them survive.
He provided food when no other was able to. Jewiir was a thoughtful person who made sure everyone got equal bits of food knowing there was little to eat. He always put others before himself. Not only did he care for them, he was always on lookout for anything. He seemed to be the type of person that is always on the go, not worrying about other things trying to stop him. It seemed to be that he was on his own so much he cared.
He was willing to go out of his way to care for others around him. He was a strong independent man that lived a short life but helped others through it. I can't describe many things about him when i'm only going by what i've heard. But he sounded like a strong picky man that had a mis of good and bad in him. He really looked after his surroundings amoungest him.
Uncle Jewiir was respected by many, Provided for his surroundings and cared for people he didn't know. Overall he was up for whatever.

My 15 minute writing.
This Tuesday i’m flying out to the CookIslands. Not only us but my aunty and her family are also
coming. I’m glad to say we’re staying for a week. Means no school. Where we’re staying is at our
family house in Avorangi (not sure if that’s the exact name). I’m sure the reason we’re going is
because my dad is planning to get his name signed on the family house. But because my dad doesn’t
know how the process goes he’s gotten my uncle to come and not only that we are doing work on
the house. Not sure how many bedrooms are in the house but I can remember it’s a big house. Very
spacious. Over all there are 7 of us all going over. The last time I remember going over was when i
was young as. I’d say around 5 or 6 maybe even older. Back then, I knew there was a lot of us that
had gone over. There was this one time where my and 10 others of my family members were at the
beach, It was really hot and muggy. I was in the water as I float on my dads back. I can remember
the reason i didn’t want to touch the ground and that was because their felt like these long round
shaped squishy things all over the ground underneath the water. I was so disgusted i had almost
cried. If i was my age now i would’ve probably laughed at the look of them.

A long walk to water.Section 4
- In my opinion i think if Salva was older and still on his own he would share the water. Only because he's much grown and knew what the struggle was with having no water. Also because there are much younger kids around haing to walk with starvation.
- I think the reason Salvas unlce wants to go back and fight is most likely because hes willing to help the rest fight but also because he knows there a some young boys that are having to aswell fight. But because Salvas uncle is wanting to go he has no choice but to leave Salva on his own.
- The groups attitude towards Salva changes i think because they knew he was the nephew of the man that provided food for them.
- It was when Salva had a remembered what his uncle had said. He then knew what it really meant.

Music Class.
What have we been doing in Music?
For the first week of Music we learnt the basic Guitar cords such as, E G E-. For more of the lessons we started working on a song (Smellycat). Most of our Music lessons i haven't been here but me and a buddy have started playing the drums.
What have i learnt so far?
So far in Music i've learnt three easy Guitar cords along with a short song. I've only just started playing the drums. I haven't exactly started Keyboard yet but i'll be playing it soon.
What am i looking forward to learning?
One thing i want to learn is more keys on the Keyboard. Learn how to play the drums and maybe some more cords on the Guitar.

A long walk to waterf. Section 1
- Salva is from Dinka tribe but had to learn Arabic. His tribe are not only fighting for food but are fighting against another tribe. There are multiple times where bombing happens. Salva had to start school at the age of 10 and had delt with the cows at a younge age. Salvas sisters were also not allowed to go to school as they were being realied on to provide for their family. Salva also has 5 siblings (3 borthers and 2 sisters). I learnt that the more cows you have the more your richer. I also feel very lucky to know my life is nothing like Salvas.
- Where are we going, Where is mhy family, When will i see them again - I think because Salva is far from his tribe and is having to survive alone now but is also use to being around his siblings he is starting to worry about his family and what might have happened to them.
- Nya is a hard working young girl keen to walk miles to provide for her family. She's also still young. In my opinion if i had the kind of life she had i probably wouldn't be able to last a month knowing i'm use to doing most things a normal kid does. I know that i'd struggle big time.
- How the tribes tell themselves apart i think is one because Dinka tribe has V shaped scars on the foheads. The way i can tell others apart is our colour and sometimes the way the talk. Most times i can just tell cultures.
A long walk to water. Section 2
- In my opinion i think the only reason the group didn't want Salva was because he's a child and for them he could possibly slow them down. I feel that if i had to choose whether to leave the kid or take it i'd probbably agree not to take the kid only because i'd just want to keep walking and find a safe place to stay atm.
- The way water dictates Nya's life is that she's having to travell hours to fetch water everyday for 2 months. Nya doesn't get to do much things that other kids do. She is also still young for a girl that walks for days.
- One thing that dictates my life i think is the internet.
- Three challenges i've learned about in this story are Knowing there isn't much food around, there's no phones around so you can't just ring someone for help and the fact some are very young and on their own. With Salva i think he's doing a good job survivng on his own at the start and he is also a young age.
- Nya's life at the lake camp compared to her life at home is not much different because she's always on a move. Nya doesn't have much shelter either way and is always having to provide for her family.
